February?s seminar first focuses on a key NY metro area development ? the availability, capacity and impact of a new, completely underground dark fiber network connecting Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island and New Jersey. OCG vice president Ed Stegeman's presentation will addrerss how this new route changes the area?s telecom dynamic, what are the technical advantages of the various networks in the area and what is the role that fully underground networks play in regulatory and compliance solutions for the enterprise.

The focus then segues to the changing needs of ISP clients relative to greater network security, redundancy and geographical location. Bob Tinkelman, President of ISPnet, will bring the views and hands-on experiences of an savvy ISP operator to his presentation. He will talk about the paramount issues ISPs should be considering in today?s marketplace in the way of technology, networking, client operations and physical locations.

Co-host OCG-Optical Communications Group, located in New York, is a facilities-based provider of advanced, high bandwidth fiber optic transmission capacity for communications carriers. Their network interconnects Long Island, New Jersey, and NYC?s five boroughs and has 100% underground fiber optic cables. OCG provides connectivity from the Trans-Atlantic cables landing in Long Island to NYC and New Jersey. The OCG infrastructure is primarily outside of Manhattan, providing a redundant, secure network. OCG also will provide dark fiber and lit services.

Co-host ISPnet, Inc., is a privately-owned New York based company. A well-established regional service provider, ISPnet specializes in high speed connectivity and client-oriented service. They connect customers in the New York and New Jersey areas to companies collocated at various TELEHOUSE centers as well as via traditional T1 and T3 data circuits.
